Finding My Creative Spark ✨

When I was a kid, my mind did a 180° turn the moment I saw the first Toy Story movie. I remember being absolutely fascinated by 3D animation and technology. In my home country, there wasn’t a specific 3D artist degree program, so I chose to study Graphic Design as a way into the creative world. That’s where it all began…

In college, I had my first real encounter with a Mac, another lightbulb moment! I realized there was a different way to think about and approach design. I began my career in Spain, working at various advertising agencies, where I often managed the digital parts of our campaigns. From websites to interactive apps, my curiosity for usability and user experience kept growing non-stop.

In 2011, I took a leap of faith and went to London to build my first startup: Echo, an audio-based social network meant to keep people informed without constantly staring at a screen. It was a thrilling time, collaborating with Google at their London offices, exploring and experimenting with cutting-edge technologies before they hit the market.
Back then, tools like Sketch or Figma didn’t exist yet, so we prototyped on paper, designed in Illustrator or Photoshop, and relied heavily on dedication and great ideas.

Advertising turns you into someone who knows a little bit of everything, but with limited depth. That “one-inch-deep ocean” reality led me to seek specialization, eventually steering me toward user research and UX.
Thankfully, my advertising background helped me learn to communicate and connect with people from the get-go—skills I now apply to every product design project.

Discovering that according to the WHO, over a billion people live (or will live) with some form of temporary or permanent disability. For me, accessibility isn’t a hurdle; it’s the foundation of great design. That’s why I made a point of getting the right training in A11y and incorporating it into each project, convinced that design can and should make a positive impact on everyone.

When I come up with a design hypothesis, I focus on breaking it down from every possible angle. If it still stands, then it’s worth pursuing. Defending it just for ego or to “be right” isn’t productive. As designers, we should strive for what’s right, not cling to our own ideas.
